You will need:

• A small pair of scissors or clippers. If you have thick hair, you may want to use a #2 guard on your clippers (or remove more hair).
• Braiding elastic and brush. You can use any kind but make sure it’s not too thick—you don’t want to bulk up your ponytail! We recommend the Satin Smooth brand from Sally Beauty Supply.

The plain braid hairstyle is a classic look that has been in fashion for decades. It’s a simple style to do and works on any hair length or thickness, which makes it an ideal option for most women. The fishtail braid hairstyle takes the basic look of the plain braid and adds some flair with extra braiding. Another option is the french braid hairstyle, which uses all three parts of your hair (front, middle and back) to create an intricate pattern across your head. The waterfall braid hairstyle combines two braids into one thick plait while dutch braids are made by interlocking strands horizontally instead of vertically like traditional braiding techniques require you do so they’re great if you have long hair but don’t want too much bulk at the back of your head like other styles might give you when worn loose down around shoulders length or longer.

If you’re having trouble picturing how to do this hairstyle on yourself, try using an old towel as a model first—just like when you’re learning how to do makeup! Place the towel around your neck with the folded edge facing forward so that it hangs down over your chest like an upside-down triangle. Secure one end of each extension onto the underside of one side of the triangle and then wrap it around behind itself so that it forms an X shape underfoot (see image). Repeat these steps on both sides, adjusting as necessary until all four corners have been secured in place by bobby pins below each respective corner point where they meet at their points of contact on top.
